Is it an sti or a reaction?

i had unprotected sex recently and i know the consequences, a few days after i did it i had my period so i know im not pregnant but i have such a sore, red, dry and itchy vagina.. i am going to get tested for sti's but do you think it is more likely to just be a reaction to something as i did use some new tampons or an sti?
