How exactly did Sony get "hacked"?

The hackers broke through Sony's secuity system and hacked them, hacked their games, and plus they will turn any game into their own. I am on e who got hacked and i am not happy. Plus apparently Sony is getting sued for not having a security system on everyone's account. Sony has to pay millions for also credit cards getting hacked because the hackers spent a lot of money.
